Jersey photographer: a family photoshoot in Portelet Bay
The amazing thing about being a family photographer in Jersey, is that you get to hang out in the most beautiful outdoor settings with wonderful little families. As far as settings go, Portelet Bay is breathtaking.
Portelet Bay became a firm favourite of mine for winter photoshoots, as it was always sheltered even on the gustiest of days because of the three granite cliffs that surround it, the water and sand are the most beautiful colours even on overcast days, and the beach was often completely deserted as you have to descend some steep steps to access it.
I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful little family on a cold day in January at Portelet Bay, where we had to chase a little weather window on an otherwise rainy weekend. As a family photographer I love to photograph in cloudy conditions - it is like having an enormous soft box on the light of the sun that ensures all the colours of the surroundings and people you are photographing can really shine through.
The kids had brought their favourite toys on the photoshoot, Nelly (the elephant) and Rory (the lion). It’s so nice to incorporate something meaningful to them that they can look back on when they are older. The little boy had only just learnt to walk - I absolutely love the photograph of his Mum gently dusting sand off him after a fall. And Mum and Dad had brought a picnic to keep the kids going, rockpooling gear and stories - we were all set for a winter’s beach trip!
I hope you love looking through these gorgeous wintery images. With huge thanks to the Fowler family for letting me share my work - they’ve since become dear friends xxx
If you would like to book a family photoshoot in this beautiful gem of a Bay, I would love to hear from you.
