frequently asked questions

Before your photoshoot

What areas do you cover?

I am based in Jersey in the Channel Islands, and cover all locations on the island.

What should we do to prepare for the photoshoot?

I will send you a preparation guide before the session with tips on how to prepare, and we also chat by phone to go through any questions and ideas that you have. You will need to do very little preparation though. Simply relax and look forward to the session - the more relaxed you are, the more authentic the photos will be.

What should we wear?

I will send you a preparation guide before the session giving guidance on how to best dress for your photoshoot, as well as which colours will best compliment the season and backdrop we will be shooting in. But most important is to wear what makes you feel good. I do advise against being too ‘matchy’, and avoiding clothes with logos, so that your images remain timeless.

Your photoshoot

What if I am camera shy?

Please be assured the photo session will be very informal, and should feel more like a walk with a friend with a bit of silliness thrown in, rather than a formal and structured photoshoot. You don’t even have to look at the camera if you don’t want to, profiles make for beautiful shots.

What if the weather is bad?

I will keep a close eye on the weather forecast in the days leading up to your photoshoot. Cloudy days make for beautiful soft lighting which is very flattering. A bit of light drizzle is fine, but if heavy rain is forecast we can either switch to an indoor shoot, or re-schedule.

What if my child is unwell on the day of the photoshoot?

We can reschedule if your child is unwell on the day of the photoshoot, as I want them to enjoy the experience and ensure we capture them at their happiest. I am happy to re-book once free of charge. A further re-booking due to illness will incur a re-booking fee of £25.

After your photoshoot

How do we select our favourite photos?

Two weeks after the photoshoot I will send you a private password protected gallery of your photos. Your gallery will be live for one week for you to decide which photographs you would like.

How many photos should we expect to see in a full gallery?

For a two hour photoshoot, you should expect to see approximately 40 images in a gallery.

Other things

What equipment do you use?

I shoot with a Nikon D750 body, which is great for capturing shots in low lighting settings like woodland. My absolute favourite lens is my 70-200 mm 2.8, which enables me to stand back quite far from my subjects, wait until natural moments and reactions unfold whilst my subjects forget about the camera, and zoom in so that I get that lovely soft background that you see in many of my images. I also have a 24-70 2.8 mm lens, which is perfect for close up shots, wide angle shots, and capturing details of little babies indoors.
