Jersey photographer - family photoshoot on a rainy day

Not every photoshoot has warm summer sunshine and backlit sunsets. Nor does it need it. Despite the weather forecast saying otherwise, this photoshoot started off with grey skies and a torrential downpour within 5 minutes of us starting. That might have put some people off … not this family! Cue a sprint back to the cars, and 10 minutes huddled and watching the skies as the rain drummed on the windscreens. A quick dry off in the car heaters, then we were out again determined to beat the storms. 

This photoshoot was also a bit different because I was photographing another photographer. It’s a little nerve wracking, but also fun as you know you can be creative. Steph is a photographer in Jersey and is so very lovely. Her family are outdoorsy, affectionate and extremely cute, so were a joy to photograph. I also knew it would be important to her to get photos of the family together, rather than individual shots of the children. 

I wanted to share this session because it demonstrates perfectly how relaxing, playing and focusing on each other, plus the clothes that you wear, are so much more important for beautiful photographs than sunsets and warm weather. These photographs are so emotive, and full of deep, earthy colours - I love them.
